Now we know what you may be thinking if you've read our FAQ on mwiki.snack.ws, how we explicitly said "You will never see a "ShadowKatrina" or "Beetlegirl". We say this as a guarantee, as we believe such characters are demeaning to women (as though women are just men with vaginas [and not actual people who can exist without being just "female ______"]). We want to make complex and likable characters--not flood the verse with tons of gender-flipped characters that piggyback off of male characters and their branding. We still will have female characters, and they will be different from their compatriots, rather than merely reskins." First of all, we said ShadowKatrina; not Shadowkatherine. Second, Shadowkatherine is not an actual character in the way you might expect. Rather than just being a gender-bent Shadowkat, which isn't MW's style as mentioned above for those reasons, Shadowkatherine is a parody of the trends in characters in The Big Two where they have gender-swapped characters to supplement their catalogue and relegate more diverse characters to the purgatory of being in a much more popular character's shadow. Not to name names or anything *cough, cough* The Big Two.

In universe, Shadowkatherine will only be a comic published by CD Digital (Comics Digital Digital [sic]), bandwagoning on Shadowkat's notoriety. We'll be doing digital short stories following CD Digital's antics in the future, which will naturally be satirical humor set in the MW Central universe.

This was intended to be an April Fool's joke but things happen and the art wasn't finished in time for that. Oh well.
